Then join our six-week memoir course where you’ll learn to take those memories and craft them into compelling, powerful narratives.
Whether you’re a beginner or have some writing experience, this workshop helps you:
- Tap into meaningful memories through guided prompts.
- Learn various memoir techniques and forms through discussion of carefully selected readings.
- Identify and practice the essential conventions of memoir, from characterization to setting to point of view and beyond.
- Develop your own unique voice and storytelling style by experimenting and drafting.
In a supportive environment, you gain the tools and confidence to start and maintain your writing practice. By the end of the course, you have the foundation to draft your own memoir, and a community of fellow writers to support your journey.

Jackie Domenus (they/she) is a queer, gender nonconforming writer from South Jersey. Their first book, No Offense: A Memoir in Essays (ELJ Editions) was a Finalist for a Publishing Triangle Award and was named a notable small press book of 2025 by Literary Hub. Jackie’s work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has appeared in HuffPost, Autostraddle, The Normal School, Foglifter Journal, and elsewhere. She earned her MA in Writing from Rowan University and has served in several editorial and publishing roles with literary magazines and journals. Jackie previously taught high school English and now works as the Program Director for Fellowships at Mid Atlantic Arts. They are also the host of the new Queer & Trans Nonfiction Podcast.
